Earth Layers Model | Science

 Earth Layers

Aim: To make a project that explains each layer.

Method

  • I will make half earth, which shows each layer of the earth.
  • I will make the base which is half earth.
  • after I made the half earth, I will glue them together to make a solid base.
  • paint the crust witch is the land and the water of the earth, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core.

For this topic, I will be making the Earth layers. this will be describing what the earth inside will look like, and how the layers were ordered. I will also describe what each layer is made of. I made a replica of the earth layer by layer after layer of glue and newspaper. each layer of the earth is getting hotter and hotter, the mantle is the molten rocks due to the hotness of the core. the outer core is a full molten iron and nickel. 84% of the death is the mantle. we also reach this down when we dig 6 km down to reach the mantle.

Earth has been around for billions of years, and eventually, the earth will die in billions of more years. this earth won't last forever,

  2. Strain the solution through a cloth into a beaker.
  3. Add a squirt of dishwashing liquid and stir.
  4. Pour into the test tube.
  5. Place the test tube in a beaker filled with WARM water.
  6. Slowly pour 5mL of methylated spirits down the side of the test tube.
Picture:

Discussion: Where did the DNA come from? the DNA came from the kiwi fruit we waited a few minutes to settle the mixture of salt and the much kiwi fruit.  after 1o minutes we added the 5mL of methylated spirits and wait for the reaction to happen we slowly can see the type of slime kind and that is the DNA of the kiwi Fruit.
Conclusion: this actually works, I get to learn the DNA of the kiwi fruit. I've also known that DNA is in layer and layer before you can actually see the DNA properly. DNA is inside the nucleus.

Wind Racer

Aim: To make the most efficient wind racer which would either go the furthest or looks the most creative.

Method:

  • Gather all your equipment
  • Set up your trolley and your bamboo stick, by placing the stick in the hole.
  • Cut a plastic bag into a partially large rectangle a size that would suit the stick.
  • Repeat with newspaper or paper.
  • Tape your first rectangle to the rod.
  • Repeat with your other material.
  • After use sticks to create a structure for the sail, we used skewers but you can use another material. - Since we used a whole newspaper page, we stuck 2 skewers together from the ends. Making it longer.
    • Stick one pair at the top and another one at the bottom
    • Depending on the size of your sail and rod place one or two pairs in the middle too.
  • After, make sure everything is secure by using tape in places that are weak.
  • Finally, decorate to make the appearance look more appealing.

Equipment: Newspaper, plastic bag, tape, trolley, bamboo/metal rod, skewers.

Result: Lego Challenge–Wind Racers – The Lego Librarian

Discussion: Pull and friction were acting for the push and stop, but 2 more forces are pushing to each other to not fly the wind racer up or pulled down in the center of the earth. Gravity, and support.

Conclusion: I thought at first the this won't work at all, but when we tried it out is actually pretty cool to do, and it definitely works.

News Article About the Pacific Ocean | Social Studies

Hello, for today I will talk about the problem in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. there are lots and lots of plastic in the Pacific Ocean and it creates multiple pollutions. and it's called the plastic patch.

The problem in this scenario is that fish are being killed by this plastic patch. after decades in the ocean, this will turn into a plastic soup, this is created by the thousand of plastic being turn into a small piece of plastic and turn into millions of small particles of plastic. small fish think that this plastic is food. but in reality, this plastic might be the last thing they will eat. so the main problem here is that more plastic is being made as time goes. in 2050 there might be 50% of clean water and 50% of garbage in the sea and more and more fish will die.

This affects the fishes that live deep down. the courses of this are that fish, other animals, and we will be affected by this. because the water around the world might have pieces of plastic in it. even the water we drink. we get fresh water because of the seawater and the sun is the one who is providing us some freshwater.

The solution is that we need to stop making plastic and use a material that can recycle and easy to break down, maybe in the future we can make this happen. or we just have to not throw lots of garbage in the ocean.

Esol | Holiday Trip

We are currently reading a book that talks about a trip, so I will talk about my trip to Milford for today.

In the new year, we went on a trip to Dunedin. But I didn't expect that we would also go to Milford. In Dunedin, we were so tired and. And a friend of ours let us sleep in their house. So the next day, we hit the road and headed to Milford. At the start, I didn't know where we would go. Not until I saw lots of falls one after another, lots and lots of them showed up. “ You know why there are lots of falls right now? “ my sister told me. And I said ‘why?’, she said: “ well it just rains earlier so lots of water will pour down and that creates the falls”. Then later we arrived at Milford. Later that a big boat will show us around Milford and show us the big falls. And I also saw some dolphins, they were fast.

Hi, For today we have done some picking ups some rubbish. we did this on our school grounds, we mainly saw a lot of rubbish in the od court area. and close to the music room. I can imagine the amount of rubbish we found in just minutes. I wanted you to know that picking up some rubbish will help our involvement better. picking up rubbish isn't that bad at all, it actually really fun. I was really happy with what I did today. I feel like our school environment is much better when I saw the rubbish we took.

I recommend doing it too, it's not bad picking up some rubbish even when you just saw a small piece of rubbish you should put it to the bin this actually helps the environment.

Metals and Oxygen

Aim: to make metal oxide and observe the difference in the properties of the product compared to the reactants.

Equipment: a piece of magnesium, bunsen burner, safety glasses metal scissor tongs.

Method

  1. Light your Bunsen burner.
  2. Hold your magnesium in the scissor tongs. ensure you are holding onto this very tip of the magnesium.
  3. Place the other end magnesium into the Bunsen flame ( at the top of the blue flame ).
  4. When the magnesium begins to burn do not look directly at it, as it light emitted permanently damages your eyes.
Result: I saw how these metals ignited into the light. I can only look at this for a couple of seconds or otherwise, this may permanently damage my eyes.

Discussion: this happens because of the magnesium, when magnesium gets hot, the metal will turn into a hot light. it also because of the strong flame that we use.

Conclution: yes, this works. this works as I think of it, I wouldn't change a thing about what we did in this experiment. this was a fun experiment I would like to do it again.

Pop test

Aim: To show that hydrogen gas is produced when a metal reacts with acid.

Equipment: A test tube, bunsen burner, wooden splint, a bottle of acid, a piece of metal, safety glasses.

Method

  • light you bunsen burner
  • add your sample of metal t your tube. add 2 mL of acid.
  • carefully invert the boiling tube above the test tube containing the metal and acid (as shown in the diagram below).
Test for Gases - EleviseResult: the result is very surprising, it pops that's why the title of this experiment is the pop test. I saw how the pops happen. it is very cool it smokes after the pops happen.

Discussion: it happens because of the hydrogen gas. this makes the pop sound because of the gas in it we trap it in the test tube so we can make the popping sound.

Concussion:  yes, it did work. I wouldn't change anything in this experiment, I think that this experiment went really well.

Beatles - Let it be

What is the song about? : The song is about Paul McCartney's Mother saying to him "let it be", these are the words of her mother in his dream. and he thinks that it's a sign that they would bring back the band together again. so that's what they did and made this song titled let it be.  this was the last song they made. the purpose of this song is that you leave the problems behind and move on in life.

What is the difference between the 1960s to 2021 songs? the difference between the 1960s most song is pop-rock. pop-rock is the most popular song in the 1960s, but the Beatles have overcome this and they were the most popular rock band in the world. but the difference between the other music is that they are not talking about people. but these guys change the music industry. they change this because they use to attract people to their songs, and talk about girls and stuff. no one has overcome their hit.

Aim: To make acid-base indicators using everyday substances.

Equipment:

  • Red cabbage
  • Tea
  • Beetroot
  • Turmeric
  • Cranberry juice
  • A beaker
  • Water
Method:

Task One:

  1. You now have five beakers, each containing a different indicator.
  2. Using a pipette, place 5 mL of the cabbage indicator into two test tubes.
  3. Add 5 mL of HCI (Acid) to one test tube and 5 mL of NaOH (Alkali) to the other test tube.
  4. Record the changes in the table below.
  5. Clean the test tubes and repeat for the Beetroot, Tea, Cranberry, and Turmeric indicators.

Discussion: For this experiment, we didn't use any burners. because our room is a classroom it's not a science room. so we found not to use any burners. but it still works and uses all of this to see if it's a base or an acid.

Conclusion: the experiment works. it was really fun, especially with my friends I'm working with. we were just having fun experimenting this indicator.
